CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (September 21, 2013) Thousands of participants gathered Saturday along the lakefront near Grant Park to support a walk that fights the stigma surrounding mental illness.
GreenSigns donated advertising space on their digital network for the 8th annual 5k NAMIWalk to promote awareness and participation. The annual event provides an opportunity for the community to come together to raise awareness and support for all who are affected by mental illness. Mental health disorders are now more common than cancer and heart disease combined in the United States. GreenSigns Director of Sales Jennifer Faber commented, “Mental illness is a sensitive issue that many people face today, whether it is within their family or their circle of friends. We wanted to help raise awareness to our Chicago audience about the services readily available to family and friends supporting their loved ones suffering from mental illness.”
The event included a free registration with fundraising, live music, face painting, raffles and plenty of giveaways. Other sponsors included Starbucks, Sun-Times Media, & Synergy Creative.
GreenSigns collaborated with Synergy Creative for the NAMI digital campaign reaching millions within the GreenSigns Digital Network. Synergy’s team included 40 participants, one of the largest to participate in the event.
Funds raised from this annual event enable NAMI of Greater Chicago to provide free programs and services to the public in both Spanish and English. As Gold Sponsors, GreenSigns are advocates of aiding community-funded services that wouldn’t otherwise be readily available to those in need.
