CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (June 8TH, 2014) Over $600,000 was raised at the American Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure on Sunday, held at Two Brothers Roundhouse in Aurora, Illinois. Over twelve hundred riders participated in bicycle rides ranging from 10 to 100 miles covering an area from Aurora to Sugar Grove. Riders raised funds to support diabetes research, education and advocacy programs. GreenSigns donated space on their Chicago Digital Billboard network throughout the city, encouraging rider participation and donations. “We saw a great opportunity to partner with the Tour de Cure since so our digital network speaks to cyclists throughout the city on a daily basis, sometimes multiple times a day when riders are commuting to and from work. We met with tour manager, Jennifer Sloan, and saw an immediate need to help spread the word about this fantastic event.”
In April, GreenSigns began displaying Tour de Cure messaging, including a countdown message to the event. Fundraising goals exceeded last year’s, as well as ridership significantly increased. GreenSigns participated on Sunday by sponsoring the event photo booth and encouraging riders’ social media engagement. Photos taken at the event were posted to Facebook through an application developed by Tagkast. GreenSigns immediately uploaded live event photos to their Chicago Digital Billboard Network to generate awareness of the on-going event, encourage social media engagement and continue to seek donations. “Riders were beyond ecstatic to learn that their photos were going to be displayed on our billboards,” says GreenSigns Account Executive, Leanna Harvey.
